Convertible Configurations

If you want to know what Ford Mustang configurations include a convertible option, you have fewer trims to choose. The regular GT, Bullitt, Shelby GT350, or Shelby GT350R trim doesn't come in the convertible variant. Instead, you will have to select your new Mustang in the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium or GT Premium trim.

EcoBoost Configurations

2019 Mustang Fastback | 2019 Mustang Premium Fastback

The first of the five Ford Mustang configurations to consider is the EcoBoost. It's powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 310 horsepower plus 350 lb-ft of torque. It also comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but the ten-speed automatic is optional.

This level of the Ford Mustang configurations includes plenty of standard hardware. Drivers receive a limited-slip rear differential, electronic line-lock, and launch control. Standard features in this Ford Mustang configuration also include 17-inch wheels, keyless entry, keyless ignition, manual cloth seats, a 4.2-inch center display screen, two USB ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rearview camera, six-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth.

Upgrading to the next level of the Ford Mustang configurations brings you to the EcoBoost Premium. The upgrade features the same hardware as the previous variant but provides users with 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, a nine-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control plus an eight-inch touchscreen complete with a SYNC 3 infotainment system.

2019 GT Fastback | 2019 GT Premium Fastback

Heading closer to the top of the Ford Mustang configurations, we have the GT models. These come with a 460-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine. Drivers also receive 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable front seats plus rear parking sensors as standard equipment. Again, the manual transmission is standard equipment, but there's the option to upgrade to an automatic. With the GT Premium, you receive the same hardware, but all of the comfort features included in the EcoBoost Premium trim are also included.

It's possible to add some of the Premium options on the base GT Ford Mustang configuration. There's also a Performance package available. The kit comes complete with 19-inch wheels, summer tires, larger brakes, a shorter differential ratio, stiffer springs, larger rear stabilizer bar, and a bigger radiator. It also provides access to the MagneRide adaptive suspension dampers. Another option with these Ford Mustang configurations is to consider the Level 2 Performance package. These configurations include wider wheels, adaptive dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, track-tuned suspension, a unique rear wing, and front air splitter as well.

There's also the option to upgrade to some other features with the various Ford Mustang configurations. Consider an active valve exhaust, a navigation system, digital gauge cluster, 19 or 20-inch wheels, heated steering wheel, Recaro front sport seats, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a premium 12-speaker sound system.

2019 Mustang Bullitt

The 2019 Mustang Bullitt really deserves its own category seeing that is neither Ecoboost nor GT but since it's a high performance configuration, we included it with the GT and Shelby trims. The Bullitt comes with a 12" LCD Digital Instrument Cluster with MyColor® and an Active Valve Performance Exhaust System with Quad tips. Red-Painted Brembo brake calipers come standard on the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. The Bullitt is powered by a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine with a 3.73 TORSEN® limited-slip rear axle and 6-Speed manual transmission with Rev Matching achieving a maximum of 480 HP @ 7,000 RPM unique only to the Bullitt configuration.

2019 Shelby GT350 | 2019 Shelby GT350R

Finally, no Ford Mustang lineup is complete without some Shelby input. You can have your pick of the 2019 Shelby GT350 or the 2019 Shelby GT350R. Both the Shelby GT350 and GT350R come with the GT350® Track Attack, which is a complimentary event offered to owners to learn high-performance driving skills that will help you get the most out of your new GT350/GT350R. Standard features of both Shelby configurations include: 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine with Flat Plane Crank, dual exhaust with electronic valves and quad tips, MagneRide Damping System, 3.73 TORSEN® limited-slip rear axle, TREMEC® 6-Speed manual transmission, Brembo brake calipers, hood vents, aluminum foot pedals, push-button start, RWD drivetrain, and 526 HP max @ 7,500 RPM with 429 lb-ft of torque @ 4,750 RPM.

The GT350 comes with a pedestal rear spoiler while the GT350R comes with a carbon fiber rear wing. The dimensions of the wheels and tires are slightly different on the GT350R configuration while the GT350 seats 4 people and the GT350R only seats 2. The GT350R comes standard with the R package (not offered on the GT350) which includes the wheels, Michelin® Pilot Sport 2 tires, no rear seats, carbon fiber wing, adjustable strut top mounts, large front splitter, unique chassis tuning and red accent stitching. The main difference between the Shelby GT350 and the Shelby GT350R is the standard inclusion of the R package upgrade.
